The SCU-17 was built with two com ports specifically for this purpose. What I am trying to do is to get FLDIGI to trigger PTT during PSK31 and other digital modes. You are absolutist correct that FLDIGI does not use use RTS/DTR for that function. Gentlemen, I am sorry for the confusion, I am not trying to "Key" the transmitter as in CW operation.

The software just seems to refuse to talk to the com port in the SCU-17. I have gone thru software configuration 2 dozen times and tried all the combinations RTS, RTS +v DTR DTR +v. I have also loaded LINUX on another box and tried FLDIGI 3.XXXX on that platform with the same results. I have tried FLDGI 4.0.4 and FLDIGI 3.23.12. I know the hardware setup is working because this works just fine when I run Airlink Express.Ailink keys the radio PTT perfectly every time. I believe that the SCU-17 uses the right audio channel for PTT so in the sound setup try reversing the right & left transmit channels. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
With Field Day coming I am under the gun to get this working. Ailink keys the radio PTT perfectly every time. I know the hardware setup is working because this works just fine when I run Airlink Express. I have tested the port in several ways using several utilities.

I have gone thru all the driver installs and I am sure they are working.
My issue is I can not get FLDIGI to trigger PTT using the RTS or the DTR lines. One of the com ports is used for the CAT interface to the radio and the other is used to do PTT and FSK using the RTS and DTR lines. The SCU-17 creates two com ports and a sound card that interface with the radio. Since the tuner uses the CAT port on the back of the radio I can not use the SCU-17 to do CAT control of the radio unless I build a custom microphone CAT cable. My setup is a SCU-17 USB interface to a FT-897D that has a FC-30 tuner mounted.
